The British Journal of Community Nursing Lymphoedema Conference – 10th June 2021

The British Journal of Community Nursing Lymphoedema Conference provided a great opportunity to keep lipoedema in the forefront of Lymphoedema specialists minds.

I presented an update on our Diet and Lifestyle project with De Montfort University along with some of the revealing statistics from our latest Survey -Living with Lipoedema, Liposuction and other treatments. Lucinda shared the presentation with her own personal account of how she felt as a teenager receiving a diagnosis and her belief that early treatment has transformed her life.

Many of the other speakers also highlighted the need to apply patient specific treatments, and how women and men often require differing treatments and approaches from healthcare. Although numbers attending in person were limited, the event was also well attended on line.  It also provided an opportunity to catch up with many of the compression garment manufacturers and especially lovely to see our own Sandra and her daughters, full size, in the ads on the Haddenham stand for their Eto range of compression for Lipoedema.

I feel very privileged to represent Lipoedema UK by chairing the event  and to be part of such a caring and committed nursing community.

Visiting London again and taking part in a live event was both challenging and exciting (and a bit exhausting too) and a lovely taste of life returning to normal.
Hopefully, this is just the start of more live events for Lipoedema UK to continue our mission to spread lipoedema awareness in the wider medical community.
